Bondage Hooks

BONDAGE HOOKS

The first time I saw a bondage hook, it was a nose hook tightly pulling a sub’s head back -- attaching her nose to her ankles via a strap over her head.  The poor girl looked, and was  particularly helpless with her head immobilized as the slightest movement of her body or feet was immediately translated to a sharp pull on her nostrils.
Definition:
There are three main types of bondage hooks, or body hooks,  that are useful for inserting into a sub for immobilization and pleasure purposes: nose hooks, vaginal hooks and ass hooks (also known as butt hooks.)  What all three have in common is they are inserted into body orifices.
Bondage hooks are smooth hooks that are designed to grab and hook onto a person’s nose, ass or vagina on one end and be attached to a rope on the other end.

Design & Physical attributes:
Nose Hooks
Vagina and anal hooks should only made of stainless steel. The highest quality nose hooks are made of stainless steel but can also be made of rubber coated metal and other medical grade plastics.  All hooks must be completely smooth and have no sharp edges to them on any part that is inserted.
Nose hooks are made of thin wire which are formed into rounded “U”s so they they do not poke into the nostril walls as they pull on the nose. Some hooks have clamps so they can be even more securely attached -- however, I don’t find this is often needed as once the hook is tied off, it is firmly in place.

Nose hooks have to be attached over the wearer’s head so it pulls the hooks further up into the nostril.
Mouth hooks
Mouth hooks are essentially the same as nose hooks but used to hold the wearer’s mouth open.

Vaginal Hooks (or Pussy Hangers)
Vaginal hooks are about 1”  in diameter (which is the largest diameter of body hook) and tend to have a steep curve to it -- almost a hairpin curve in some cases.  It is extremely important that vaginal hooks be smooth as tears will not will be appreciated by your sub.

An interesting variation to the standard pussy hook is the double hook which has 2 hooks in an anchor shape: this is perfect for attaching two female subs together so they can get to know each other better.

Anal Hooks (also called  Butt Hooks, Tail Hooks and Ass Hooks)
Butt hooks are about ½” thich and have a wider curve to accommodate the backside of the sub.  They often have a ring on the end for attaching rope.

Uses:
Hooks are useful for converting bodily orifices into tie-points for bondage.  They immobilize the sub effectively as movement pulls on very delicate parts.   Hooks can be used with suspension but a great deal of care should be employed and it is not recommended  for beginners.
Mouth hooks are extremely effective at making subs drool and not being able to close their mouths -- which can also be handy for oral sex at any moment.

How To Use It:
Hooks are fairly simple to use. Some lube may be used on the hook before inserting it into the ass or vagina.  Once it is in place, tie a rope to the other end of the hook and pull on the rope so that it pulls the hook tightly into place.
Since hooks are stainless steel, they can be left in place for longer periods of time without issue...but nose hooks will definitely cause some discomfort with prolonged use -- and they will also leave lines on the sub’s face as the nose is contorted for extended time.

Safety - Concerns and Prevention:
The biggest safety concern when working with hooks is the application of force when the top/Dom pulls it tight with the rope.  A jerk or fast pull can cause damage to the sub, especially with Nose hooks as they do not pull against a bone.  Too much force can also cause severe discomfort and damage to the sub with use of any type of bondage hook I.E. do not tie the hooks too tightly.  While Bondage Hooks can be used in a Suspension Scene they should never be used in a load bearing manner!  I say again you cannot lift your sub up by their nose, ass or Vagina.  When using Bondage hooks never use them where a sub can fall over or fall off something and have the hook stop their fall as this will hurt them!
When using Bondage Hooks make sure that all edges are Rounded and Smooth.  Sharp edges with weight on them can puncture the delicate mucous membranes of the vagina or anal walls.  Do not use any Hook that hasn’t been properly cleaned and sanitized.  Do not use any Hook that is not made out of the materials we listed above unless you are sure that it is safe to use without shattering and more importantly never put anything that could corrode with rust into your or another person’s body.
And for God’s Sake NO FISH HOOKS!!!
DIY:
Can you make hooks yourself? Unless you are a metal worker or jeweler, it is doubtful you will be able to make your own vaginal or anal hooks out of steel.  Nose hooks can be made by bending thick gages of wire with pliers.
